AFPWHAT HAPPENED?
Following a 2-1 first-leg win that included a Weston McKennie goal, Juventus headed to the Netherlands with an advantage in Wednesday's Champions League second leg against PSV. That advantage evaporated early in the second half when PSV's Ivan Perisic leveled the tie. Weah restored it with a stunning goal, equalizing the score on the day while giving Juventus an aggregate lead with his 63rd-minute smash.
Following Weah's first hit from outside the box, celebrations were briefly halted due to an offside check. The goal was rightfully allowed, giving Juve the only goal the lead. Unfortunately for Weah and Co., they'd surrender it just minutes later, when Ismael Saibari leveled the match with a PSV goal in the 74th minute, forcing the two teams into extra time.
Once there, PSV got the goal they needed from Ryan Flamingo in the 98th minute and held on to knock out of the Champions League. Richy Ledezma was the lone American to play a part for the Dutch side, as Malik Tillman, Ricardo Pepi, and Sergino Dest remained sidelined with injury.

With Weah's goal, Juventus' USMNT stars made a little bit of history. That goal made Weah and McKennie the first USMNT pair to score in the knockout rounds in a single UEFA Champions League campaign. Both have been huge pieces for Juventus in recent months, with Weah holding down a right-back spot while McKennie has played all over the field for first-year manager Thiago Motta throughout the season.
However, it wasn't enough on Wednesday as PSV booked their place in the next round of the Champions League. While Tillman and Pepi are expected to remain out for quite a while, Dest is nearing a return and could still factor for the club this season.
AFPWHAT NEXT FOR JUVENTUS?
Juve will be back in action in Serie A on Sunday when they visit Cagliari. After that, they face another knockout match as they take on Empoli in the Coppa Italia quarterfinal as they push for what will likely be their only crack at a trophy this season.
PSV, meanwhile, will look ahead to a clash with either Arsenal or Inter Milan in the Round of 16.
