The Red Devils are expected to reshape their squad after a dismal Premier League season. Ruben Amorim's side sit down in 15th place in the table and have lost 15 of their 34 top-flight games so far in the 2024-25 campaign. Ahead of the summer transfer window, Manchester United have been advised to make a move for Joao Palhinha by former Germany and Liverpool star Didi Hamann. Palhinha has struggled to make much of an impact at Bayern since moving from Fulham and has been linked with an exit.

He told CoinCasino: "I think Joao Palhinha could be a great fit for Manchester United because they need steel in the middle of the park. He does the work in the engine room and there is where games are won and lost for United. They have looked weak there at times and I think Palhinha would improve them. Things haven’t gone to plan for him at Bayern Munich because Vincent Kompany decided that Joshua Kimmich needed to be back in the middle, the one deficiency in his game is probably his work on the ball and that’s so important at Bayern when they are dominating games. He is probably a player to use in the biggest games against the best teams so he can frustrate the opposition, we could well see him if Bayern go on and get PSG in the Champions League final. He has rarely started and also had an injury, I think he will part ways with the club in the summer and it’s a question of how much money Bayern can get back."

Palhinha knows Amorim from their time together at Sporting and is also a good friend of the Manchester United boss. The midfielder wished Amorim well when he joined the Red Devils, but it's not clear if United hold any interest in the 29-year-old. Amorim's side are expected to try and bring in Matheus Cunha from Wolves and may also move for a goalscorer after struggling to find the back of the net this season.

WHAT NEXT FOR MAN UTD

Manchester United are aiming to finish the season on a high by winning the Europa League, which would also ensure qualification for the Champions League. The Red Devils also still have Premier League fixtures to negotiate against Brentford, West Ham, Chelsea and Aston Villa.
