Per The Sun, Jamaica's Football Federation has approached the Football Association with a request to transfer Greenwood's registration so that he can continue his career with the Reggae Boyz. The English governing body are said to have accepted the request and the process is underway.

Greenwood won one England cap, against Iceland in 2020, but was sent home from the camp shortly after because he broke COVID quarantine rules by inviting women back to his hotel. He has not been picked since, and many believed his international career was over after he was arrested on suspicion of multiple offences, including rape. Those charges were dropped, although his Manchester United career was ended.

Jamaica have been in contact with Greenwood since the charges were dropped and the striker initially rejected their advances as he held out hope of an England recall. However, the appointment of former United assistant Steve McClaren as the country's new manager is said to have had an impact on the striker.
